When I start driving my vehicle seems to be stuck in gear for a long period of time then when it gets past that it drives fine.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

Does the vehicle have a delayed shift at first (engine RPM's increase very high before shifting) or does the engine just not have power? Also, does it happen every time you start the engine regardless if it is warm or cold? Is the check engine light staying on when the engine is running?

What I would like you to do is check for diagnostic trouble codes. It is easy to do on this vehicle and requires no special tooling. Follow the directions in this link and let me know the results.

Let me know.
