My air pump seized up completely and burnt the belt off. So again my question is, can I remove the air pump and belt drive completely without hurting anything?

I hate to say it, but no. Can you remove it? Yes, but it will lead to emission issues and possible damage to the catalytic converter. The purpose of the pump is to inject fresh air into the converter to help fully burn all unburned fuel.

Okay, thank you. I completely understand that. Would it effect anything besides the catalytic converter (ex. Idle speed, gas mileage, etc.)? I am not worried about the catalytic converter, because I am about to redo exhaust. Sorry if it seems like a dumb question. Any and all information is greatly appreciated.

No question is dumb. Lol Honestly, it should be okay, other than federal law prohibits it. Funny I restored a 1990 Dakota a little over a year ago and drive it every day. Great little truck.

Thank you. I appreciate the response. This is by far the most informative site I have found when it comes to my truck. You guys have helped me nail down any problems I cannot figure out (which have been quite a few. Lol) An even though she is showing her age a bit, she will still leave a decent set of marks. Lol.

Let me know if I can help in the future. I turned nearly every bolt there is on mine. Lol Plus a lot of body work and welding. I hate body work!
