Hello, I was hoping to get some quick help identifying this component which came off the steering column of my 2012 Malibu. I have searched for the part number and can't find anything about it.

There are two of these on either side of the two mounting bolts on the steering column shaft guide. They mount between the steering column and the bolt holes, with the bolt going through one end.

These were missing from the column when I bought the vehicle. The one pictured is one I found floating around under the kick panel. I'm trying to understand the function of them and if it's necessary to remove the column and install these. Part # 261296532 or 261296524

I have attached pictures and the part number. Any advice would be appreciated!

Those look like grounding tabs to help eliminate static electricity from building up in the steering column which may trigger a false airbag deployment. They lean against the lower dash panel correct?

Yes, I do believe they would contact the kick panel once installed. Sounds like a necessary component. Think I would be able to get both just the one?
