Good morning,

The 685 seems to be the key. This is for the power control relay and that controls power to all the modules which explains why you have all these failures.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-an-electrical-relay-and-wiring-control-circuit

Check all your fuses for power on both sides with a test light to be sure power is available.

Are you having any issues with the transmission? The 883 is about voltage to the transmission control module.

I do not have immediate access to wiring diagrams for you. I will keep searching and will update when I get the diagrams.

Roy

Thank you for your reply and additional information. Plenty of weekend reading and more importantly understanding. How to implement it all.

The code is 00883.

I couldn't find wiring diagram anywhere so your help is gratefully appreciated.

Thanks again.

PS. Forgot to add car cranks but won't start so don't know about transmission. Do you think this is an easy fix based on what you know?

Thanks again.

Okay, a couple questions.

1. When you crank it, does the tachometer move up a little showing RPM? That will tell me if the crank sensor is working

2. When you turn on the key, does the fuel pump run?

Hello,

1) Yes, slight movement on tachometer, please see video attached.
2) Yes, I can hear the fuel pump engage.

Thank you for support.

Okay, I do not see any RPM reading at all. This indicates to me that the crank sensor is not working.

I am having trouble finding information for this engine. I will see what I can find for the crank sensor. I will update when I get more information.

Roy,

1) Thanks the engine ref is BUD 426324.

2) Question, would the crank sensor affect the horn, wiper, washer, hazards as well (i'm learning so forgive my ignorance).

3) Blimey, if it's the ECU i've just had a quote of  250. That my budget so what if that does not fix fault.

Only got one roll of the dice so it would be great to fix the car first time. Just ordered my first fuse light tester.

Hi Roy,

The test light has finally arrived.

Great bit of kit pointed out why the car won't start but still don't know where the problem lies.

Test light shown.

No power to fuse at the top and bottom of fuse panel at the side of dash (photo attached).

No power to the 4 fuses either side of the 100 relay in engine compartment (photo attached).

What next please?

Can you tell me what the fuses control? It should be on the cover for the fuse block. That way, I can get a diagram of the fuse block to find out what powers those fuses.

Roy,

My apologies I did a light test on the fuses with the ignition off and the result was what I posted to you earlier.

I have now carried out another light test with ignition on and all fuses working sorry for the school boy error.

Cheap repair carried out so far to-date:

1) Ignition switch change.
2) Relay number 460 change.

Next action to be guided by you.

Further relay purchase and changes?
Multi-metre purchase and action.
Other action.

The result from ignition off related to engine management system, engine control module. With ignition on all fuse okay does this mean that the ECU is okay or is this just wishful thinking by me?

Thank you
