Light on and buzzing noise car won't start. took off battery cable off when put on lights come on key is off.

Just to confirm which light you are talking about, is this the check engine light?
If so, we need to check the codes and see what is there.

Also, if this is just cranking, we are going to need to check for fuel and ignition. However, this buzzing noise that you are hearing does that happen only when you are cranking the engine?
If so, this could just be a drained battery.
