I replaced thermostat housing and can’t remember which hose on heater core goes where on housing.

Hi,
They don't make a schematic, so I had to. LOL There are two hoses. One is a supply (inlet) and the other is a return (outlet).
If you look below, the first two pics are for the outlet. Pics 3 and 4 show the inlet.

So, the bottom port of the heater core goes to the top of thermostat port and the top of heater core port goes to bottom of the thermostat port.
