My heater blows but it makes a grinding noise! Could the fan be loose?

Hi,

Chances are the fan isn't the cause. There are bearings inside the blower motor that wear out and cause noise.

What I would suggest is to remove it and check if something is loose first. If the fan is tight, then I suspect the blower motor itself needs to be replaced. If you can record it and upload it for me to hear, I may be able to recognize a possible cause.

To get you started, take a look through this link. It explains things to check and in general how one is replaced.

If you look below, I attached the directions specific to this vehicle. Keep in mind, it could actually be something that got into the HVAC box and the fan is touching or rubbing against it

Let me know what you find or if I can help.

Take care,

Joe
