Heat shield breaking off?

118,000 MILES • 1.2L • MANUAL

The heat shield has come unattached in two places causing loud consistent rattling. The pieces that have broken are very damaged and I can't see a way to reattach from DIY suggestions. How long can I drive the car if I take it off? Or any solutions on how to reattach it.

If you can upload images it would help, but most heat shields need to be bolts or welded on. Is this the shield that is loose? Check out the images (below).
