This could be a problem with your heater core. The heater core is like a little radiator that is usually located within your vehicle's dashboard. It is enclosed in a Heating and Ventilation Control (HVAC) unit. Coolant is constantly passed through the heater core as it is an integral part of the engine cooling system. When the driver turns up the temperature control a door on the housing of the heater core opens letting the hot air be introduced into the HVAC ducting system. The amount of hot air let out depends on how hot the driver turns the knob to.
What usually happens is that the heater core starts to leak or gets plugged up rendering the heater inoperative. I have included a couple of links for you down below.
