The headlights on our caravan will activate randomly during the day while driving, go on and off at any time with switch in off position. The headlight indicator illuminates, not sure if headlights do in daylight.

At night headlights and sometimes dash lights will go out while driving. Lights in on position, will go out for random periods. We no longer drive it after 5:00 pm.

also noted that radio/cd is acting erratic. No other electrical issues noted.

no response to mild percussion near TIPM when lights fail.

TIPM is my main suspect. Often takes up to 5 minutes driving before occurring, so a possible thermal issue is considered.

I am looking to identify schematics/ wiring diagrams for the lighting circuit and the TIPM. I have electronics skills and can do board level diagnostics and repair.

van has an aftermarket plug in remote start system that is attached directly to back of ignition switch with full connector compatibility and mfgr harness adapter that works well. Has 1 wire to running lights on light switch for signaling. Fortin EVO-CHRT4 programmed to the vehicle.

The headlight switch feeds into the instrument cluster which I have seen go bad. I have also seen the switch and TIPM go bad as well, I don't like the wiring being tapped into for the aftermarket part which the CAN BUS might not like. I would do a CAN scan to see which codes come up.

You can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) which will work on most cars from Amazon.

Here is a video to show you how:

Here are the headlight wiring diagrams as requested so you can see how the system works. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Thank you for the info. I will keep you updated as I can look at it. Currently buried in a differential rebuild.
