The reply was great. Unfortunately, it was the wrong switch it is the one that switches the lights on. When I turn the lights on the engine cuts out. Would a new switch solve the problems? Thanks

Welcome back:

Those are the only directions there are for the headlight switch related in two different manuals. If I recall, all you need to do is gently pull on the switch itself and it will release and come out. There will be a plug on the rear of it. Disconnect the plug and reverse the procedure to install the new one.

As far as the switch being the problem, chances are it isn't the problem. Start at the power source. Make sure the battery is fully charged and the battery terminals are clean and tight. Also, check the ground wires to both the body (near battery / follow the neg battery cable to locate where it bolts) and confirm corrosion isn't an issue and they are tight.

To me, it sounds like a power issue. A weak ground can cause crazy things to happen.

Let me know if I can help.

Take care,
Joe
