Headlight restoration

By mistake I sanded headlight with p180 grit and need to get rid of the deep scratches why should I follow the 180 grit with to eventually end with 2000 grit ? Thanks

400,600 ,1000 etc,there are polishing compounds that can be used with a electric buffer 1000-2000 grit that could expedite the procedure. Have you looked at the headlight restoration kits from auto parts stores? they are almost the same products,3m pads of different grits and polishing compounds.

john is correct the 3m one is the best you can use a battery powered drill with. it is going to take a while to get the 180 grit off.
