I got the basics figured out, just, in the video, i'm thinking there is some form of grommet or something for the round head bolt thing to slip into. How essential is it to have this component?

There should be a plastic insert that the pivot pin plugs into so it can be locked into place and holds the weight of the light. The screws just hold it in place. It is part number 3 in the image. It should be available from a dealership or a salvage yard. It is needed or the light will bounce around from the vibration.

It's the socket part of the ball and socket that allows for headlight adjustment. I don't find a part number for it though. Always called it the headlight adjuster ball socket.
