Had coolant overflowing from the overflow tank, bubbling and spraying, but the vehicle was not overheated. Not sure if I have a water pump issue or a head gasket issue. Took out the spark plugs to check for liquid in the cylinders and found none. Ran it with the radiator cap off and had a few small bubbles but it did not bubble over, then when turned off I could hear gurgling from the radiator. Have no idea what is going on but hoping it is not the head gasket.

Sounds head gasket.

Perform a compression test on all six.

Compression may be be pushing into the water jacket, Instead of water into the cylinders.

Did you look at the oil dipstick?

Top right side of 2CarPros pages is "repair guides"

Look at these:

Compression low reasons.
Compression low symptoms.
Compression test.

This one is in there too:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/radiator-pressure-test.

You might want to look at the whole thing! There are other things you will need later with other issues.

Do not let doing the head scare you (if you have to). Working on a straight four and a straight six is just an adult version of building a model car or airplane! As long as you read the instructions.

Are you capable of the mechanical parts? Of course, an auto machine shop would do any head inspection or shaving.

Do you have a reputable mechanic?

Do you have a repair manual?

I might be able to give wanted suggestions.

Your turn,

The Medic
