Hi,
Do both sides react the same? I ask because the door motors are controlled by a headlamp door module.
The module and the door motors have power at all times. When the headlights are turned "on", ground is applied to the relay coil within the Headlight Doors Module. The relay contacts close, and voltage is applied to the Headlamp Door Motor Assemblies. Ground is provided for the motors through the solid-state circuitry until the Headlamp Doors are open.
So, my theory is either there is a poor connection between the motors and the module, or the integral relay is failing.
Do this: Check the connectors at each door motor. Make sure they are free of corrosion, tight, and not damaged. Also, check the connection at the module and do the same.
I attached a pic below showing the module location.
Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.
Take care,
Joe
