Hey guys, I'm on for a big job. This vehicle belongs to me, bought it with a blown head. Well, I've never done a v8 Ford f150. If possible, would you guys happen to have a step by step on this motor? If not that's fine but rather use your steps to reflect on this project. Thank you, gentlemen,

By the way it came out of shop confirmed blown head. I checked the coolant reservoir and it got mixed oil and coolant. Dirty. I'm also just going to change out the water pump radiator and thermostats while I'm in the motor. Note: I will not be removing motor from truck. I will also have the heads shaved once I get it out

This is going to be one of my biggest accomplishments by far if I get this right. Thanks to 2CarPros.

Hello,

On this vehicle the book does call for the engine to be removed before removal of the cylinder heads. Might have clearance issue on the back.

Also be sure to use new head bolts during the installation.

I have attached the complete replacement procedure below. Including all the torque specifications and the sequences.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.

oh yes, i just noticed the clearance is very tight., plus i think it's going to be way easier working with the engine out anyway. Thank you for this step-by-step procedure. I will follow up once through with it..

If you want to see a bunch of videos on that engine and some tricks on removal go take a look at fordtechmakuloco on YouTube. Brian owns BSG Automotive and was a dealer tech for years. It might help when seeing the book info to see video as well.
