New Head Bolts came with grease on them, are they okay to install?

I recounted the threads on the smaller side. There are 8 threads. There are ten threaded grooves in the manifold. Would you consider that 50%?

Looks good. I have only two threaded grooves showing on the back of the manifold. I accidentally put on a nut and I have to figure out how to take it off lol. So I can reinstall the stud.

You should be able to grab the raised section with channel locks to hold it in place. Then you will be able to turn the nut.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

Not trying to damage the threads. I don't have a bench vice. I would be holding it in my hands. It's like an oval kind of nut. I was going to use my cordless impact but needed something to hold it in place without moving or marring the threads.

Hi,

If you use a good set of vice grips, you should be fine. I circled where I would put them. Also, the nut design indicates it is a locking nut. It's designed to function as if you used a lock washer. It will come off but will be tighter to turn.

Let me know.

Joe

It worked. I used vise grips and a crescent wrench. I was able to spin it off without messing with the threads. A friend helped me with it. I appreciate it. Tomorrow I finish cleaning one side of the engine block so I can reinstall the passenger side cylinder head. Should be fun.
