High RPM

Just bought a used Jetta about a week ago worked fine until a few days ago I put the car on drive and drive off when I lost major acceleration and my rpm gauge goes crazy. I step on the gas and it stalls, I turn it off and on again helps for a few seconds and does the same thing. Anyone know what the problem might be and how to fix it?

Hello,

I would check the transmission fluid level first, then check for codes to see if you have a shaft speed sensor that is going out.
