Recheck your connections you may have one of the wires touching hot wire. Also tap starter relay to see if it stops.

Did you have this problem before you replaced your starter solenoid? Did you double check your work? My wiring info says the lite blue wire at solenoid gets voltage from crank position of ignition switch. With key in run position there should be no voltage on that lite blue wire, if there is, either the ignition switch is faulty or circuit shorted to voltage, somehow.

I can't rule out a faulty component or starter drive gear hung up on flywheel? Something of that nature.

IF THIS IS SORTA KILLING YOU TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT

I KNOW HOW IT IS WHEN YOU REALLY LOVE YOUR JEEP AND SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENS

LETS INSTALL ONE OF THESE (OR SIMILAR) ON THE BATTERY SO THAT YOU CAN QUICKLY KILL IT WITHOUT THE NEED OF TOOLS! YOU CAN GET THIS AT AN AUTO PARTS STORE PRETTY DARN CHEAP.

SEE MY 1ST PIC

NEXT

IN PICS 2 AND 3 YOU WILL NOTICE I HAVE SWAPPED THE BATTERY CABLE TO THE RIGHT SIDE IF THE SOLENOID (B TERMINAL)

I HAVE SWAPPED THE BATTERY CABLE TO THE LEFT SIDE ALONG WITH ALL OF THE ACCESSORY WIRES TOO (A TERMINAL)

PIC 2 IS MY 1946 WILLYS WIRED TO BE LIKE MY 1977 CJ-5 IN PIC 3 (NOT THAT THIS IS RELEVANT AT THIS TIME) I DID THIS (SWAPPED A AND B WIRING) SO THAT MY "CONSTANT POWER TERMINAL" WOULD BE RIGHT BESIDE "C" TERMINAL. THIS WOULD ALLOW ME TO TOUCH "A" AND "C" TOGETHER USING A SCREWDRIVER TO "BUMP" OR EVEN "START" MY JEEPS FROM UNDER THE HOOD ("STARTING", ONLY WHETHER I HAD THE KEY TURNED ON INSIDE OR NOT)

OUR JEEPS USE A FORD STARTING SYSTEM, MANY FORDS WERE SET UP LIKE MY WIRING, SO IT'S NOT SOMETHING I JUST CAME UP WITH!

NOW THAT THAT QUESTION THAT I'M SURE YOU WOULD ASK IS OUT OF THE WAY!

LETS LOOK AT WHATEVER SIDE YOUR STARTER CABLE IS ON. IT SHOULD BE ALL BY ITSELF. THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY OTHER WIRE ON IT! (SEE MY PIC 2 AND 3)

JUST TO CONTINUE TO AID YOU IF WE AIN'T GOT IT FIXED YET

WHEN IT "HANGS UP" AGAIN

BEFORE YOU KILL THE POWER

SNATCH OFF WIRE "C"

IT SHOULD STOP!

"C" IS THE WIRE THAT MAKES IT'S WAY ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE IGNITION SWITCH
TO THE "START" POSITION

IF THAT DON'T STOP IT

JUST FOR GIGGLES

SNATCH OFF WIRE "D" (I'LL EXPLAIN IT'S OPERATION LATER)

NOW THEN

LET'S KNOW EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED AND REPORT BACK HERE WITH YOUR RESULTS

I'LL STICK WITH YOU UNTIL THIS IS ALL FIGGERED OUT!

YOUR TURN
