I hit a pothole quite badly last night and since then there has been a violent grinding noise coming from the front passenger side of the engine and the car is bumpy even when idling. I have taken the tire off and checked the suspension and brake shield etc., and i don't know what else it could possibly be. maybe the transmission?

Hi:

Was anything under the engine hit? If you feel it when the engine is at an idle and the car isn't moving, check the crankshaft pulley and any other pulley that is low enough to be hit.

Let me know what you find.
