Hi,
my nieces husband asked me to check out his truck. Reason is because it was misfiring cylinders 5-8. First thing I saw was when I opened the hood was cylinders 5-8 had excel coils and 1-4 were Minecraft. Also I checked spark plugs and they were in desperate need of replacement. So I went and got new ignition coils and spark plugs installed them and check that wiring harness damaged. Turned the engine on and I could still here the misfire and great loss of power. So, second thing I did (don't know if it's a good way to test) was poured small amounts of water on and around the intake manifold while the engine was running and listened to any change in revs indicating that there was a vacuum leak on manifold but nothing. I checked all vacuum lines and found rubber house connecting to PCV was cracked so I replaced. Engine still was the same. I cleaned out the MAF sensor turned engine on ran the same. With engine on. Disconnected MAF and engine ran the same. At this point I noticed the service engine light turned on which is obvious due the disconnecting MAF. So plugged obdii scanner and saw no DTC in stored codes but when I opened pending codes P1151 came up 3 times which is ho2s21. So I looked at live data and saw that ho2s21(v) was all 000.00 and the rest of the ho2s were showing voltage. What does that mean? Can that be what's causing the misfire on cylinders 5-8 and if I replace that o2 upstream sensor will it fix the problem?

Thank you,

Rob

The truck listed above is the Harley Davidson F150 model.

Hello,

That could absolutely be what is causing the misfires on cylinders 5 and 8 because that HEGO is for bank 2(driver side) and that is where cylinders 5 and 8 are located. To do a quick check, make sure that the wires coming from the O2 sensor didn't get fried by the exhaust, which happens a lot. If that checks out okay, then I have included the factory diagnostic pinpoint tests for Direct Trouble Code (DTC) P1151 in the diagrams down below. You will need a scan tool that is capable of reading the vehicle's PID's, but it lead you directly to what the problem is. Please go through these pinpoint tests and get back to us with what you are able to figure out.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi there,
I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you. I haven't had the chance to putin practice the procedures that was provided to me by SCWICKEDSTANG due to me having car problems with my Lincoln zephyr. My torque strut mount keeps going out. I've replaced it 7x and I've only had the car for about a yr now.I've tried 7 different brands and they all fail. Not just that my suspension parts are now starting to give out and I installed brand new oem suspension parts to the entire front and rear. Most suspension parts are giving out ever since I got hit by a careless driver on opposite side of traffic one rainy day who ended up taking off and want able to get his plate no. So now I've been having to replace parts on my car but thanks tho thegreat ppl here I haven't had any trouble replacing them since I had previously asked for the torque specs and procedure for my car. So as soon as I get done with my car I'll go work on the f150 and as soon as I find something I'll let you guys know. Thanks again for your guys help and patience! I greatly appreciate it.

Hi

Just wanted to apologize for taking long to give u guys an update. Unfortunately I had a family emergency to attend to first and when all was resolved I was gonna go work on the truck but my nieces husband told me He needed the truck for work since he does construction so he took it to a shop and had it worked on and fixed. He said that didn't know exactly what was it since he was in a rush when picking it up and he can't find the paperwork that shows what they replaced. So unfortunately I didn't know what the exact problem was but he did mention that they replaced the MAF sensor, fuel filter, cat converter and o2 sensor. I just wanted thank you guys for your time and help. I greatly appreciate it.
