Hard to start

When i try and start it, it will crank but have to give a little gas, sometimes it pops in the engine are, when it does that it will run with a little bit of a rough idle. i can smell gas from under the hood after the little rough idle. It runs and idles okay. the check engine light is on. please give me an idea.

it needs to be scanned for codes first then check fuel pressure as it can be either a sensor or low fuel pressure. Auto parts rent gauge if handy with cars. See link:
