On cold mornings the first time you start truck for the day it's hard to start. After the initial start up the truck runs perfect the rest of the day. When warm weather is outside the problem decreases.
So far the chevy garage has tuned up the truck, checked fuel pressure, cleaned the throttle body, installed mass senor, when mass sensor was replaced it helped about 50% better.

Hi,

We have a few different possibilities. First, fuel pressure drops off. If you have an injector leaking, it will allow fuel pressure to drop. Then, it takes an extended time for the pump to rebuild the pressure. That is the first thing I would check.

Try this. The first start of the day, do the following.

1) Turn the key from off to the run position (engine not running) and count to 5
2) Repeat step 1 three more times.
3) Next, try to start the vehicle to see if it starts quickly.

If it does, then it's a pressure issue. Or, you can check the pressure. Here is a link showing how it is done:

Another idea is if the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor is failing and not signaling the correct info to the computer. If the sensor indicates it's much warmer or colder than the actual temperatures, then the air/fuel mixture will be off causing a delay in starting or no start. You will need a live data scan tool to check the signal.

If you do have access to a live data scan tool, check the ECT signal before starting in the morning.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care and God Bless,

Joe

Hi, Jim. You are very welcome. I'm glad it's working properly now. I have to be honest. I can't believe the dealership didn't think to check that based on the symptoms. It frustrates me when things are replaced which don't change the problem.

Regardless, thank you for letting me know. This info will likely help others in the future. Also, I'm glad the wife is happy. LOL Happy wife, happy life. LOL

You take care of yourself. Please feel free to come back in the future if you have any questions. I'll be here and you are always welcome.

Take care and God Bless,

Joe
