Hi,

Based on your description, it sounds like you may have a faulty crankshaft position sensor. When they begin to fail, oftentimes they are adversely affected by heat. Do me a favor. Take a look through this link and let me know if it seems to mirror what you experience.

Additionally, let me know if the check engine is staying on and if the mileage indicated above is accurate.
