I ran across a previous post where someone had requested instructions and a list of tools required for a handbrake replacement (interior components) in a 2005 X5 and was wondering if I could also have that information forwarded to me as well. I have the 3.0L version. I believe the teeth inside are shredded as I can barely get the car to hold on at the very tip top. I barely was able to pass inspection with it. I recently bought the entire assembly from a used car online, however I'm not sure where to start and haven't had much luck finding instructional videos online. Thank you in advance!

Hi,

Replacing front brake pads really isn't too hard. When you do it, make sure to get lifetime pads so you never have to pay for them again.

You can expect front pads to last approximately 25,000 miles. However, that can change based on driving habits and terrain.

If you look at the attachments, they include the directions and pictures specific to your vehicle for replacement. Use these directions for the procedure.
