I test drove this vehicle earlier today and there's a noticeable gurgling sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. It's more noticeable if you're standing next to the rear or if you open the trunk. I want to get another opinion on what this could be and if it's easily fixable.

Hi,

Does it only do this when the engine is running? I ask because the only thing back in that area that would make a gurgling sound would be the fuel pump. There is a chance the pump is failing.

When you drove the vehicle, did it run and accelerate normally? Is the check engine light staying on when the engine is running?

Let me know.

Joe

There's no check engine light and yes only while the car was running. It accelerated normally but I did also notice and slight sputter when letting off the accelerator at idle and while driving.

It is very possible the fuel pump may be failing. What I would recommend is to check the fuel pressure to confirm it is within the manufacturer's pressure specifications.

Here is a link that explains how to check the pressure:

You will need a fuel pressure gauge, but most parts stores will lend one to you. Also, I attached the fuel pressure specs below.

Try this and let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe
