Hi guys. I wanted to wait to let you carry on this conversation, but I have one comment to add. Check if the pointer has gone all the way around and is on the backside of the stop peg. These are not spring-loaded pointers as they were many years ago. The computer circuit places the pointer to its desired position. If the shortest way to "0" or to idle speed is clockwise, it will go that way and become stuck. Pointers can be reset by performing the gauge test procedure with a scanner, but it's much easier to just momentarily run the engine fast enough that the shortest way for the pointer to get to the actual speed is counterclockwise. To say that a different way, look for the number that's straight across from "0". If that happens to be, oh, let's say "6", the engine has to reach higher than 6,000 RPMs, then the pointer will follow engine speed back down to normal.
