This could be a brake problem. Your vehicle's brake caliper could be stuck closed or you might have a rock that wedged between the rotor and the brake pad. To check to see if the brake caliper is working correctly you will need an assistant. Jack up and secure your vehicle according to the link below.

Remove the tire where you hear the grinding and have your assistant press on the brake pedal. Watch and ensure the brake caliper squeezes the pads against the rotor and then releases when the assistant removes his foot from the brake pedal.
