So as I was leaving the store and I went into reverse it stalled on me and then I started it back up and went into drive and it stalled again. After restarting it the second time I was able to drive off fine wondering if it would stall again but made it home to pull into my drive way. And as I stuck it into reverse it wouldn’t shift into it causing me to hit the gas and hear it shift really hard and going into reverse. After this happened it shifts a little rough into reverse and drive but still drives and runs fine but now I have a weird rubbing or grinding noise coming from underneath. What would be the solution to fixing this?

Good afternoon,

I would check the transmission fluid level to be sure it is full.

I would also consider changing the fluid and filter as well.

As far as the noise, can you upload a video for me to hear? I need to hear what you hear.

As far as the stalling, I attached a guide for some possible issues.

The fluid I have checked and it’s still a fresh pink and pretty full so I believe I’m good on that. Not sure about the filter though.
I will be posting a video or two down below if you can get any idea from it. Basically ever since it shifted really hard into reverse it almost sounded like something holding something together had snapped and now it’s rubbing on something and I can’t determine if it’s a u joint needed fixed or something in the transmission since it was caused by a stuck gear. Anyways I hope this video is good and thank you for responding!

Okay, I could not hear a thing with the noise at all.

As far as the fluid, do not dismiss it as looking good. I would still change the fluid and filter.

Can you do additional videos?

You couldn’t hear anything out of the video. Like it was mute? And I will look into doing that just to be cautious. And the sound you need to look for is that rubbing sound I hear. It never had that until it shifted really hard into reverse

Thanks and I will try to post another video. Hope you can hear on this one.

Thank you. I heard it that time.

It sounds like the torque converter. That is a piece inside the transmission.

Sounds like something failed inside the transmission.

Thank you so much! I was thinking the same thing. Either that or sunshell. Looks like I’ll be changing transmission oil and getting a new torque. Thanks Roy!
