Delay between when foot placed on gas pedal or brake about 6-8 seconds. gas pedal has to be pushed hard and car barely moves.

Car making grinding noise when placed in gear and does not hardly move.

It sounds to me like one of the planetary gearsets has failed inside the transaxle. I've seen this quite a few times in the past. I would take a fluid sample and check it for metallic debris. There is a small drain plug on the bottom of the case. Just drain a small amount, 1/2 cup or so into a clean, dry cup or other container and look for shiny bits. Sometimes shining a flashlight into the fluid sample will help. Please let me know what you find.
