Grinding noise when driving

My vehicle has been making a grinding/scraping noise in the last twenty four hours. I am ninety nine percent sure it is coming from the rear driver side wheel. No other symptoms, but it does not happen when running and at a standstill, and increases with acceleration.

Does the noise change while braking? if not you could just have a bad wheel bearing. Do you have a jacks and jack stand?

I do have a jack and a friend is taking a look on Saturday. But when I brake, it starts to quiet and when I get under twenty mph it silents completely when the brake is being applied.

It could be brakes and brake pad re-positioning to where it gets quieter. If not with the car on flat level ground with one hand on the rear coil spring and using the other hand to spin the wheel as fast as you can. If the bearing is bad you should be able to feel the bad bearing in the coil spring. Compare both sides to each other. Let me know what you find.
