Grinding brakes but brake pads are barely worn.

I've never had to slam on my brakes before, the one time i did, my brakes have been making a loud grinding sound every time i press my brakes. I looked at my brake pads and they're barely even worn. What could it be?

check for rust between rotor and shield and between caliper and rotor.
