There is a grinding sound that occurs while driving, not specific to slow or fast or turning. When going faster, the exhaust sounds much louder than it did just a few days ago. When in reverse, there is a slight knocking sound. This is all coming from the rear of the car. And for what it is worth, it has been in the thirties to forties since I noticed this issue exasperated.

Well from the description it sounds like either a hanger or pipe in the exhaust system has failed and the piece is rubbing or dragging under the car. A visual inspection would tell you what is wrong. Just look under the car and follow the exhaust pipe with your eyes. If it is broken or fallen it will be obvious. I will swap places with you, I have not seen a temperature over 10 degrees in 2+ weeks.
