We have rebuilt the motor. It has less than 500 miles on the rebuild. Replaced the fuel pump, and carburetor and now there is grey smoke coming from the tail pipes with a smell of gas like it is flooding. Why is there smoke and where could it be coming from. We also just replaced the valve cover gaskets and put gasket maker on them to seal them because oil was leaking from under the valve covers. HELP! Thanks!

Are you sure it's flooding? Gray smoke is usually oil being burned. Make sure you don't have too much oil in it. It could have a broken piston ring. I would get it back to the guy that installed to motor to check out.

That doesn't prove anything. They can still be damaged.
