Recently, I grazed a curb while trying to park (probably going 5-10 MPH). I didn't realize it caused a bit of damage to the sidewall of my front passenger tire (see pictures). there's a little bit missing, and a couple scrapes to the rubber. I've driven around 20-30 miles with it as is.

Tire pressure has remained fairly steady/not noticeably losing pressure per the car's system.

Is this worth taking it to be checked out by a mechanic/discount tires? Is it safe to be driving? The car is less than a year old, as are the tires. they have a total of 6,148 miles. Thank you for your advice!!

Hi,

I looked at the pics. It is really hard for me to tell how deep the cut is. However, I can tell you this. The sidewall of a tire isn't very thick. Also, since this is on the sidewall of the tire, it is nonrepairable.

If you had the vehicle in my shop, I would recommend replacing it. Honestly, if it is deep enough, it could blow out and be dangerous.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
