I ran over a curb in the parking lot and now my car sounds like it's a go cart or motorcycle engine. It appears 2 bolts from my oil pan fell off and it's hanging but no loss of oil. When I turn the car on, it sounds normal but when you press the gas it gets really loud and sounds like it's struggling

Hi,

First, if the oil pan is hanging, do not drive it. As far as the noise, it sounds like you broke something on the exhaust causing a leak.

If possible, record it and upload it for me to hear. Also, if you could take a picture of what is hanging from the missing bolts, that will help me.

I attached a pic of the exhaust system below. I highlighted all connections. Check these locations for damage.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Can you get a recording of the noise? Sounds like the crank is contacting the oil pan.

I suspect when you ran it over that the oil pan was dented and now when you accelerate you are hearing the crank contact the oil pan.

See the exploded view below that will show number 31 which is the oil pan at the bottom of the engine.

Hi,

As long as the oil pressure light isn't on, to me it sounds like an exhaust leak. Have you checked under the vehicle for damage? Also, can you get a pic of the oil pan so I can confirm that isn't damaged? If it is, it will need to be repaired ASAP.

Let me know.

Joe
