4X4 won, t engage

1999 Yukon 136000 5.7L The last time I tried fourwheel drive the light on the selected option starts flashing but will not completely engage. When I try 4Hi I can hear the tranfercase actuator moving. It will move back to 2 Hi but nothing else works at all and none of the buttons will move the front axle actuator.

The noise your hearing is the piston ofthe font axle actuator. You should check the transfer case motor or the dash control switch. My 1999 was the transfer case motor, but the frontaxle actuator, and the dash control switch was replaced prior to me changing the transfer case motor. Got it at a junk yard for 100 dollars. Hope this helps
