2005 GMC Yukon speedometer

i was driving on the freeway when i reached my exit i let off the gas and my speedometer stayed at 55 and it slowly roughly went back down i took apart my instrument cluster but i can't figure out how to remove the needles so i can put lithium grease on the motor thats sticking

The gauge is actuated by an electrical current. I feel there may be a problem with the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) that is causing it to slowly drop. Does it do it all of the time?
