I accidently put diesal in my tank-- about 3 gallons
I have not turned it on!

It will maybe smoke for a while but it shouldn't hurt anything. Fill the tank up with gas to delute as much as possible.
BTW - How did you get the pump nozzle in the tank filler hole??
