The driver's side door will not close because the lock mechanism is stuck in the wrong position. We were able to move the passengers side door into the problem position and then back to the proper position. However, we cannot reposition the driver's side. This problem has occurred before. I have corrected in past, but I cannot remember how I did it. It is possible the deterioration is worse than the prior instance. The lower part of the lock with the small hand like protrusion is not as far out from frame as on the passenger side door. The upper part of the latch is not as high in position as the passenger door. How can we maneuver driver side lock into proper position to allow mechanism to engage and close door. Currently the latch prevents the door from closing.

Your electricals aren't in the lock position, correct? I can't see your latch mechanism from here, on some makes and models, where applicable, I have used a screwdriver to flip the mechanism in the door. I'll try to find info on latch mechanism. Thanks for the donation.
