Electrical problem
1998 GMC Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I own a 4 wheel drive gmc pick up and the 4 wheel drive will not engage... I have replaced the regulator switch that attaches to the transfer case... the light comes on when you engage the switch... you can hear it tryiing to engage but after about 5 seconds later it blows the fuse... Is this a wiring issue or is it the acctual transfer case itself ??? Please help live in colorado and we haven't had much snow this year, but wait 5 minutes and the weather changes!!!

thank you

this is a typical problem on these trucks, have you checked the actuator on the front axle? it is the most common problem, it is located on the right side on top next to the third member and it will have a wiring loom going to it, checked that and make sure it is working.
