I have a 1997 GMC C6500 366 cu in that won't start.
My problem started when the the truck was running and then stalled and would not start again. After waiting awhile, the truck would start and run for a short time. I replaced the fuel pump but the problem persists. I bench tested the new fuel pump using 12 volts and it runs fine. I checked the voiltage from the truck to the fuel pump and measured just over 8 volts. When I bench tested the new pump at 8 volts it did not run. I was told that perhaps the fuel pump relay could be bad. I don't know where the relay is located and how to test it. There is also a connector from the pump discharge to the fuel pipe that I don't know what function it has. What is this connector and should it be replaced before I reinstall the fuel pump assembly?
