Engine Performance problem
1997 GMC Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

MY TRUCK IS REACHING APPROX 40 MPH AND SOMETIMES DIES OR JUST WON'T GO ANY FASTER AND LOSES POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. AT FIRST I PLAYED WITH THE BATTERY CABLES, I.E., TIGHTENING, AND THEN EVENTUALLY REPLACED THE BATTERY AND THOUGHT THAT FIXED IT, BUT SOON AFTER IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN. ????

Welcome, how long since a tune-up? Any codes? Use a gage and check fuel pressure. Do you have the spider fuel system?
