1994 GMC Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

i replaced the starter i have power to it and the truck
but when i turn the key the starter do not engauge what could cause this

Did you hook up the solenoid wire to the starter??Make sure the truck is in park or neutral, or it wont start.
