Electrical problem
1993 GMC Truck 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

battery charged, cables tight and correct. no power at all, lights nothing. could smell burning wires before died, however can find no rough spots in wiring. just wondering most likely place for the short.

Hello, you may be way ahead of me? If there is a battery junction block, I'd start testing there. There is B+ feed to the junction block, there might be several feed circuits coming off of it, if they are protected by fusible links, one of those links may be blown. If the short is downstream from the fusible link, replacing the link won't fix it. I consider up-stream is toward the battery.

It is possible to use a testlite to see if a circuit is shorted to ground. Your testing for a ground. You need to be on the correct, dead circuit.
