1992 GMC Truck play in the steering

i got the truck a few weeks ago and the steering was tight and the truck did not ride to rough. now the truck is loose ,rough,and all over the road . is the rack and pinion the problem? and can it be fixed or do you have to replace the whole thing?

If there is any type of warranty, bring it back and have it fixed. If not, you need to jack up the front end and start checking out components like shocks, tierods and ends, idlerarm, draglink, pitman arm, etc. You can't ask how to fix it if you don't know what needs fixing.
