1988 GMC Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Manual

I am working on GMC K1500. We are having problems taking the fuel tank off all the way. I am trying to replace the fuel pump. We have the one strap off and there is another strap that holds the tank on but it is (i believe) hooked to the frame of the vehicle. Please I am begging for help on this matter.

Thank you in advance

Hello, my database info is too generic, no help. One end of the strap should be bolted, maybe both ends? You can't find the bolt? Is the fill tube loose from the tank?

The one strap is loosened and the other one is removed already. We removed the filler hose and vent hose from the filler neck because we can't get to the end of the hoses near the tank. We just cant get the strap out that has the bolt in it. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Becky

If you have the bolt out, maybe you can use a screwdriver or something to pry on the strap. The tank is empty and you have the tank supported?

I thought of prying the strap off but I don't want to harm the fuel tank. If I can get a new strap I might just cut it off. I don't know what I am going to do yet. There is about a gallon of gas in the tank and yes it is supported on jackstands right now. Thank you for the input.

The last truck I removed the tank from, 89 chevy suburban, the straps had bolts on both ends. I had trouble with the bolt on one end, I just took the bolt out of the other end of the strap. Sorry, I can't see your actual problem from here?
