1979 GMC Truck low pressure side of air conditioning

the aluminum line where the orofice tube goes is bent and I can't get the new screen in properly, could this line be cut so I can straighten the line out and clamp it with a rubber hose, or is there to much pressure on the low pressure side to do this? its the small line from the evaporator .

Way too much pressure ! The small line is the High Side, the large line is the Low Side. Try using assorted size 1/4 drive deep sockets and tapping them lightly to get the bend out little by little. if you can't do it, you'll have to get another line.
