My diesel intermittly will not crank. We have replaced the starter, and battery, checked the connections. I have it towed to get it repaired and when it gets there it will start again for a while. Then it stops. Will not even turn over, nothing. Everything electrical works. Lights, radio. It just will not turn over. Three mechanics have looked at this car and can not figure it out. I have been stranded all over the place and I have put almost $1000 into it! HELP! It's a old car, I'm an old woman!

Hi. It could be a few different things. The hard part about it is that its hard to find a problem when its working, as you already know. I would start by checking the ignition switch, not the ignition lock cylinder, it is located on top of the steering coloumn under the dash. Check the nuetral safety switch, sometimes they are on the transmission but I think yours is on the bottom of the steering coloumn. If its not all the way in park it will not start. Next time it happens try starting it in nuetral or push it up in park. If the truck thinks it is in reverse it will not start. Good Luck let me know if you have anymore questions.
