1988 GMC Suburban overheating

my temp gauge goes all the way up, after minute it goes back down to mid way, radiator is half empty daily, chugs a little at higher rpms, blows white smoke at idle once that i have noticed and i have changed thermostat and gasket

Could be the headgasket, cracked head or block and an intake leak-Get it block and pressure tested.
